£10,000 for minor who injured his hand in an accident at school

Yorkshire’s Injury Lawyers recently acted for a child who was injured in an accident at school.  The accident occurred whilst the child was using a piece of machinery in a woodworking class which did not have a proper guard on.  The infant Claimant sustained injuries to his middle and ring fingers on his right hand and a claim for compensation was submitted to the relevant local authority. 

 The local authority passed the claim to their solicitors who maintained a denial of liability.  Accordingly proceedings were commenced following which a Defence was received in which liability was conceded. 

 Further medical evidence was then obtained and following negotiations the Claimant accepted the sum of £10,000.00 in satisfaction of his claim.  The settled was approved by the court.  The Defendant also paid the Claimant’s agreed costs.
