Director and Head of Personal Injury

I have 25 years experience in dealing with personal injury claims. I undertake work in all areas of the personal injury field and I am highly experienced in complex, high value injury claims – particularly traumatic brain injury, spinal injuries and all types of catastrophic injury claims. I also have considerable experience in dealing with fatal accident claims and representation at inquest arising from fatal accidents.

I am more than happy to travel to see my clients if necessary out of office hours and at weekends. I pride myself in my proactive approach to cases and attention to detail.

I am a member of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) and the Law Society Personal Injury Panel.

I am a Director of the company, having started my legal career in the West End of London before moving home in 1979. I have 40 years experience of seeking and obtaining maximum compensation for my clients, especially in cases other solicitors have said couldn’t be won. I am a member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel and member of the Personal Injury Lawyer’s Association, and have been in my career a Deputy District Judge so am able to bring my vast experience to help all my clients.

I deal with all types of claims including compensation for severe injuries and cases where people are unable to carry on as they did before their accident, whether they are from accidents at work, in the workplace, or anywhere my clients have been put in danger. I also have expertise in claims for people who have been ill abroad as a result of the travel company or hotel not being up to standard, and have helped many people recover the cost of their holiday and compensation for the problems caused.

Best Career Moment: The first day I sat as a Deputy District Judge, a position of great responsibility and recognition of my hard work and dedication.

Trainee Legal Executive

I am a Trainee Legal Executive in the Personal Injury Department of Yorkshire’s Injury Lawyers and am presently undertaking the Institute Of Legal Executives qualification to become a Chartered Legal Executive.

I was the first point of contact for new clients of Yorkshire’s Injury Lawyers for sometime. This involved taking initial details of their accidents and discussing the clients funding options such as conditional fee agreements (no win no fee agreements) and after the event insurance cover.

During my time at Yorkshire’s Injury Lawyers, I have assisted Howard Willis and Jonathan Speight in the preparation of all aspects of ongoing Personal injury cases up to Trial, including preparation of the initial Claim Notification Form, submitting claims to insurers, drafting and preparing of witness statements and Instructions to Counsel.

I now have my own caseload of personal injury cases under the supervision of the Partner in Charge of the Personal Injury Department, Howard Willis. I mainly deal with Road Traffic Accident claims however, within my caseload I also have Occupiers Liability, Employers Liability and Public Liability claims.

Heather Firth

Heather Firth

Secretary PI Department

I have over 30 years experience working in a legal environment in particular in the personal injury sector and have a considerable working knowledge of complex, high value claims, spinal injury, brain injury and all types of catastrophic injury claims.  I have experience in many other areas including accidents at work, occupiers liability claims, road traffic accidents, slipping and tripping and product liability claims.

I have also assisted on fatal accident claims including work on inquests following fatal accidents.

I pride myself on my professional approach – clients expect and deserve nothing less.  Where I can really go over and above however is my attention to detail which is paramount in maximising the chances of a successful personal injury claim – you just cannot afford to slip up when representing a client.

I am also experienced in licensing matters including applications for premises licences, variations, transfers, applications for club premises certificates and revocation applications.

New Case Referral Assistant

I have recently joined the Yorkshire’s Injury Lawyers team as a New Case Referral Assistant.

I am the first point of contact for potential new client’s of Yorkshire’s Injury Lawyers who have suffered injury. I take initial details of their accidents, discussing the clients funding options with them. Such as conditional fee agreements (no win no fee agreements) and after the event insurance cover before referring matters on to other members of the team to risk assess the prospects of success for the case.

I then have the responsibility of sending out the no win no fee paperwork to the client for signature and explaining the basis of the agreement once they have had the opportunity of reading the paperwork.

"Thanks for all your work dealing with my case- I have been really impressed with the professionalism and prompt way in which you have dealt with the proceedings

Thanks once again."
